Donell Tyrone Dempsey, age 71 of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was born on October 5, 1941 in Sacramento, California to the late George Dempsey and Patricia Weaver Creamer. Donell honorably served as an Air Traffic Controller for 12 years in the United States Navy. Following the military, he began a long career of truck driving and retired from Danny Herman Trucking. Donell loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking and fishing. More than anything, he loved spending time with his twin boys, Brian and Kevin, whom he loved deeply and was very proud of. Donell is survived by his friend and mother of his children: Chris Dempsey; his twin sons: Kevin Dempsey and Brian Dempsey, all of Mountain City, TN; step daughters: Heather Rodriguez of Bristol, TN and Carolina Rodriguez of Martinez, CA and his brother, Tim Dempsey of Sacramento, CA. Graveside Service with Military Honors will be conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012 from the Mountain Home National Cemetery, Johnson City, TN. Pastor Dwayne Dickson will officiate. Pallbearers are: Tommy Stout, Jim Greer, Larry Tester, Hank Stilfner and the Johnson County Honor Guard. Honorary Pallbearers are: Dr. Jaishankar and Staff of the Cancer Center of Johnson City and Dr. Boose and Staff of the VA Medical Center.
