Douglas Zacharie “Zach” McMillan, age 35, passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening, October 2, 2026. He was born July 31, 1991 to Rebecca Greer and Douglas McMillan. Zach enjoyed the outdoors and exploring the world around him. He loved fishing, hiking, waterfalls, fast cars, and animals. Whenever he went fishing, he always released his fish, because he appreciated nature and respected wildlife. He was a good soul with a generous heart, always willing to lend a hand or help anyone who needed him. He also took great pride in his work and genuinely enjoyed his job and the people he worked alongside.
Of all the things Zach loved, nothing compared to the love he had for his daughter, Willow. She was his greatest joy and held a special place in his heart. The love he had for her was deep, unconditional, and everlasting.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Rebecca Greer (Ron); father, Douglas McMillan; his beloved daughter, Willow McMillan and her mother, Nikole; grandparents, Jack and Jo Anne Shull; brothers, Dusty Ray McMillan and Zane Jarrells; aunt, Kelly Henson (Allen); uncles, Tim McMillan, Jamie McMillan, Phillip McMillan, and Dale McMillan; several nieces and nephews; special cousin, Katie Henson, and many other cousins; lifelong best friend, Jeremiah Burns.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Tyler Fenner officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow the funeral at Reece Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Logan Roberts, Cole Howard, Brian Shelton, Zane Jarrells, Dylan Goodman, and Jeremiah Burns. Honorary pallbearers are all of his work buddies.
