William "Pete" Brooks

William “Pete” Wayne Brooks, age 70, of Mountain City, TN, passed away at his home after a hard fought battle with cancer on Thursday, January 16, 2020. Pete was born on August 31, 1949 to the late Clyde Clifford Brooks and Grace Sybil Wyatt Brooks.   Pete dearly loved his family and deeply enjoyed spending time with them. One of the greatest treasures of his life was watching his granddaughter Hannah play softball.  He was a 1969 graduate of Johnson County High School. He was well known for his football career there from 1965-1969.  Pete loved riding his motorcycle and was a member of the Iron Mountain Riders. He also loved spending time camping. Pete was an active member and past deacon of First Christian Church.   Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 48 years, Starla Brooks; daughter, Amber Greever and husband Chad; sons, Micah (Mike) Brooks, Gregory Brooks and wife LeeAnn; brother, George (Benny) Brooks and wife Frances; grandchildren, Katelin Brooks, Hannah Brooks, Quinten Brooks, Aden Brooks, Arianna Brooks; nephews, Mark Holland II, William Holland, Jesse Brooks, Chad Brooks; brother-in-law Mark Holland Sr. and wife Elizabeth, several great nieces and nephews.   The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2020 at Mountain City Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dwayne Dickson officiating. A graveside service and burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Billy Holland, Mark Holland, Sr., Kenneth Roman, Nate Shepherd, Wayne Shepherd, Jesse Brooks, Chad Brooks, and Bob Heck. Honorary pallbearers will be members of The Iron Mountain Riders.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Johnson County Cancer Support Group, in care of Flo Bellamy, 3510 Hwy. 421 N, Mountain City, TN 37683.    At other times the family will receive friends at the home, 541 Swift Hollow Rd, Mountain City, TN, 37683.   Condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.mountaincityfh.com   The family of William “Pete” Brooks has entrusted his services to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S.
