It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of William McDowell also know to many as Weasel, a beloved partner, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world on August 28, 2026, at the age of 62, Born on January 4, 1964, in Wilmington, Delaware, William touched the lives of many with his vibrant spirit and infectious humor.
William was the cherished son of the late Carol A Lindsey and Benjamin Z McDowell. From an early age, he exhibited a zest for life that would come to define him. He was known as the life of the party, a true comedian whose laughter echoed in the hearts of all who knew him. His generous nature and willingness to help anyone in need were hallmarks of his character, leaving a lasting impact on his loved ones.
William was a devoted life partner to Tammy, who stood by his side through life's adventures. William’s loving family includes two children, William McDowell and Aaron Volling, who carry forward their father's legacy of kindness and joy. William was also the proud grandfather to four cherished grandchildren: Riley, Josie, Layne, and Dominick.
He was the brother of Patricia Brown, Joyce Eldreth, Richard Isbert, and Jamie Isbert, and is predeceased by his sister, Lucia McDowell. His siblings remember him as always ready with a joke or a helping hand.
William had a passion for living life to its fullest. He found joy in singing and karaoke, often becoming the highlight of any gathering with his infectious energy. A devoted Miami Dolphins fan, Weasel’s enthusiasm for the game was matched only by his love for motorcycles and hot rods which brought him great joy.
Throughout his life, Weasel remained a steadfast friend and an unwavering supporter to those around him. His laughter, warmth, and generosity will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family will recieve friends from 2-3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Mountain City Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m.
