William "Fred" Eldreth

William “Fred” Eldreth Fred Eldreth, age 93, of Mountain City, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021. Fred was born on December 6, 1927 in Johnson County, TN to the late Lettie Eldreth. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by sisters, Bonnie Hutton and Shirley Ann Cornett from West Jefferson, Nina May Farmer from Creston, Irene Cox from Mountain City; brothers, Elmer Eldreth and John Eldreth (Norma); friend, Earnest Johnson, special friend, Bob Stout, uncle who was like a brother, Robert (Big Bob) Eldreth. Fred was a hardworking man who worked into his 80s. He spent many years working as a timber cutter for A.J. Stalcup. His last job was for Bob Stout (Bob Stout Construction Co.) where Bob was not only his employer but a great friend. He liked to garden and spend time outdoors, especially sitting on his porch waving to folks passing by. Fred always talked about who had taken time to stop by and see him. Those left to cherish his memories include his daughters, Karen Colson and husband Darrel of Mountain City, TN, Shirley Hubbard and husband Enoch of Gray, TN; one sister, Earline Farmer of West Jefferson. A special thanks goes out to the mother of his children who prepared meals for him, as well as his special niece Bebbie Shupe, special friend, Frankie Shupe, and special neighbors, Carl and Dorothy Williams, Larry and Brenda Barry, and Mike and Vicki Hensley. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday October 4th, 2021 from the Dyson Grove Church Cemetery with Leonard Fletcher officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter Karen 111 Shupe Hollow Rd., Mountain City, TN 37683.
