Wanda Lou Lunceford Brown, age 79, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026 at her home. She was born September 8, 1946 to the late Lloyd and Sophie Lunceford. In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kay Brown, in 2018, and her granddaughter, Kerissa Cazire.
Wanda’s life was filled with simple joys and steadfast devotion. She delighted in hummingbirds and flowers, and her kitchen was a place of warmth where she lovingly collected and prepared recipes that brought comfort to those around her. For many years, Wanda faithfully drove the school bus, a role she cherished as it allowed her to care for and connect with children in her community. Her beloved dog, Scooter, was truly her constant companion and source of joy. Wanda’s commitment extended beyond her family to her spiritual community as a devoted member of the Maple Chapter #79 Order of the Eastern Star for an impressive 48 years, and a steadfast member of Nelson Chapel Baptist Church. Her strong faith was a guiding light throughout her life.
Those left to cherish her memories include her son, Greg Brown (Angela); daughter, Beverly Brown; grandchildren, Savannah Taylor (Jimmy), River Cazire, Kenneth Brown (Brandy), Katie Elliott (Aaron); great-grandchildren, Kynlee Gentry, Roman Cazire, Kenneth “Kenny” Brown, Hudson Brown, Marlee Elliott, Remmie Elliott; brother, Royce Lunceford (Sandy); sisters, Geneva Clawson, Trish Lunceford; sister-in-law, Norma Roark (Doug); several nieces and nephews; special friends, Imogene Fenner and Sammy Cazire; and her beloved canine companion, Scooter.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 18. 2026 at Mountain City Funeral Home.
