Tommy "Tom" Taylor

Tommy “Tom” Taylor, age 78 of Mountain City, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born December 18, 1946 to the late Ernest Taylor and Ruby Dowell Taylor. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Albert Joe Taylor and his cousin, Mike McCroskey.

Tom was a 1965 graduate of Johnson County High School; he had recently attended his 60th reunion. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam and also served as a county commissioner for Johnson County for 24 years. For many years he was active in Boy Scouts of American, Disabled Veterans of America, and The Johnson County Honor Guard. Tom enjoyed fishing and square dancing. He took great value in being there to help his family, friends, and neighbors.

Tom was a member of Hammons Chapel Christian Church.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 56 years, Patricia Shoun Taylor; daughter, Tonya Taylor Mason (George); son, Stephen Ernest Taylor (Elizabeth); special niece, Susan Paige Taylor; grandchildren, Charlie Mason, Ruby Taylor, Pearl Taylor, Mattie McKinney, Calvin McKinney, Xander McKinney; several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Mountain City Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Minister Josh Giddings to officiate. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard.
