Tommy Lee ‘Uncle’ Stanley, age 50, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to Heaven on Monday, July, 16, 2018  at the Foley Center in Blowing Rock, North Carolina.   Tommy was born on March 14, 1968 in Banner Elk, North Carolina to Bart Stanley and the late Marjorie Woods Stanley.    Tommy was a former Correctional Officer at NECC and was currently employed at Parkdale Mills of Mountain City, TN.  He loved being outdoors and especially loved riding his four-wheeler, hunting and fishing.  Tommy loved life and loved to make people laugh and smile.  More than anything, Tommy loved spending time with and spoiling his nephews, Joe and Will.  Tommy was loving known as ‘Uncle’ by his family and close friends.   Tommy was a member of the Taylorsville Masonic Lodge #243 F & A M and a member of Pleasant View Christian Church. Those left to cherish his memories include his father, Bart Stanley, sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Michael Overbay of Boone, NC, brother, Michael Stanley of Mountain City, TN and his pride and joy, nephews, Joe Penley and William Overbay. The family will receive friends from 5-6:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with a Memorial Service to follow at 6:00 p.m. Pastor Gary Bowman officiating. In lieu of flowers and food the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Foley Center, 621 Chestnut Ridge Parkway, Blowing Rock, NC 28605 or the Taylorsville Masonic Lodge #243 F&AM, 202 College Street, Mountain City, TN 37683. The family of Tommy Lee ‘Uncle’ Stanley has entrusted his services to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S. Church Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
