Timothy Wayne Pruitt, age 60, of Shady Valley, Tennessee, entered the arms of Jesus on June 24, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer.
Tim was born on May 23, 1966, in Marion, Virginia, to the late James and Donna Armstrong Pruitt. Although born in Marion, he was raised in Rich Valley, Virginia, alongside his four brothers.
From an early age, Tim was a hard worker. As a young boy, he earned money collecting pop bottles in his little wagon. His first full-time job was with Virginia House Furniture. Throughout his career, he also worked for Royal Building Products, LPI, and Dutt & Wagoner. His favorite job, however, was his most recent position with Service Max for FedEx in Bristol, Virginia. He genuinely loved his coworkers and employees and often spoke highly of his boss, Jack Enoch, whom he considered the best.
In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by two brothers, Randy Pruitt of Marion, Virginia, and Jackie Pruitt of Rich Valley, Virginia.
Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted wife, Teresa Pruitt of Shady Valley, Tennessee; his children, Drew Phillips, Amy Noah, Brandi Owens, Troy Owens, and Allie Phillips (Josh); and the greatest joys of his life, his four grandchildren, Chloe and Ian Phillips and Liam and Ella Noah. Tim was a loving husband, a devoted father, and the very best Papaw anyone could ask for.
He is also survived by two brothers, Larry Pruitt (Judy) and Danny Pruitt (Carla); his sister-in-law, Lisa Pruitt; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Tim loved spending time outdoors, especially mowing his brother-in-law’s campground. He also enjoyed visiting the Tri-City Flea Market, where he loved browsing and selling on the weekends.
On April 30, Tim was baptized into Christ and became a member of the Crandull Church of Christ. While cancer may have claimed his earthly body, his faith never wavered. The cancer may have taken him, but God won the battle.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, as well as the caring staff of Ballad Home Health, Ballad Hospice, and Bristol Cancer Center for the compassionate care they provided.
The family will receive friends at Mountain City Funeral Home on Monday, July 6, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a celebration of life to follow.
The family of Timothy Pruitt has entrusted his services to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S. Church Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
