Thomas Ray Wallace, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on August 27, 2026 at Johnson City Medical Center. Tom was born January 15, 1939 in Trade, TN, to the late Donald and Mae Wallace. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Wallace and brother, Elmer Wallace.
Tom was the proud owner and operator of Miller Industries in Boone, NC, for 52 years. He enjoyed farming and playing golf with his buddies, Roy Hodge, David Potter and Jeff McKinney. He also loved riding his Kubota around the Wallace Settlement. He was a member and deacon at Roan Creek Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Judy Wallace; children, Debra Phillips (Joey), Kim Wilson (Brian), Tammy West (Ronnie), Chris Payne (Pam); sister, Joyce Stephens; grandchildren, Sawyer Phillips (Candace), Silas Phillips, Samuele Wilson (Abby); great grandson, Stetson Wilson; special niece, Jo Evelyn Roop; great nephew, Heath Roop (Chelsea) and their children, Layla, Bellamy and Emerson.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2026 at Roan Creek Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow 7 p.m. with Pastors David Hankal and Mike McNutt officiating. The graveside service and burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026 at Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery in Zionville, NC. Pallbearers will be Sawyer Phillips, Silas Phillips, Samuele Wilson, Heath Roop, William Price, and Chris Payne. Honorary pallbearers are Roy Hodge, the deacons at Roan Creek Baptist Church, the Men’s Sunday School Class at Nelson Chapel Baptist Church and Joe Phillips.
At other times, friends and family may visit the home of his daughter, Debra Phillips, 613 Wallace Rd, Trade, TN 37691.
