Thelma Brown

Thelma Lou Brown, age 94, passed away May 27, 2026 at Watauga Medical Center. Thelma was born April 30, 1932 to the late Frank and Docia Geer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Franklin Brown; son, Jim Ronald Brown; sisters, Virginia Potter, Shirley Burleson, Leanore Burleson and brothers, Glen Greer, Guinn Greer, Tommy Greer, Roby Greer, and Kenneth Greer.

Thelma was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making meals for others. Everyone who knew Thelma loved her, as she had the most kind and caring heart. She looked forward to tending her big garden every year and nothing brought her more joy than being with family. She was employed at Mountain City Glove Plant for 22 years and Watauga Medical Center for 17 years. She was of the Baptist faith.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Sue Price, Kathy Snyder (Howard), Marty Jones (Lannie); son, Dale Brown; sisters, Mary Nell Johnson, Jo Evelyn Cornett, Pauline Macham, Wanda Oliver; brother, Howard Greer; twelve grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with James Henson officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow at the Brown Cemetery (South Road, Todd, NC). Pallbearers are Thomas Brown, Ronnie Brown, TJ Brown, Nathan Brown, Gregory Spencer, and Lane Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Dale Brown, Jordan Miller, Tanner Kilby, Juan Albino, Sebastian Albino, Jordan Eller, Jeff Dunn, and Trevor Terrell.

The family respectfully requests no food brought to the home.
