Shirley Ann Reece, age 87, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2026. Shirley was born January 17, 1939 to the late Stanley and Grace Potter. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Reece; her son, Tony Reece; sisters, Louise Poston and Juanita Potter; and brother, Edward Potter.
Shirley was a beloved member of her community, known for her joyful spirit and warm kindness. Deeply devoted to her family, she cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren, who were the center of her world. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a dedicated member of Stateline Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. Shirley's love for music was evident through her talent with the guitar and piano. She also enjoyed traveling, embracing new experiences with enthusiasm and grace. Shirley’s legacy of love and kindness will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory include sisters, Josie Barnwell (C.R.) and Dena Gasperson (Gale); brothers, Francis Ray Potter and Roger Lee Potter; daughter-in-law, Claudine Reece; grandchildren, Jacob Reece and Elizabeth “Libby” Reece; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Maxine and P.J. Potter and Dave and Jackie Garland.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Dave Garland officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow at Stateline Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Troy Potter, Larry Potter, William Andrew Crowder, Drew Crowder, Dave Garland, and Danny Cullop. Honorary pallbearers will be Francis Potter, Roger Potter, C.R. Barnwell, Gale Gasperson, Ellis Widener, and P.J. Potter.
The family respectfully requests no food or visitors at the home.
