Shelby Branson

Shelby Jean Branson, age 87, passed away Friday, September 4, 2026. She was born October 7, 1938 to the late Roby and Julie Roark. In addition to her parents, Shelby was preceded in death by the father of her children, Robert Branson; sons, Bobby Branson and Skylar Branson; daughter, Darlene Blakely; grandchild, Jamie Branson; sisters, Ozel Shelton, Opal Shelton, Virgie Self, and Louise Henry; and brothers, Ed Roark, Arlis Roark, Ralph Roark, Clarence Roark, and Joe Roark.

Shelby was a loving, strong-willed woman whose presence could light up a room. She was funny, talkative, and sociable, never afraid to share a story, speak her mind, or make those around her laugh. Shelby was a woman of great strength and an even greater heart. She showed unconditional love, especially to her family, and was fiercely protective of those she loved. Above all, she was a devoted and loving mother who treasured her family and would do anything to care for them. Shelby appreciated doing things the old-fashioned way and found comfort in simple traditions and ways of life. Shelby attended Rescue Mission Church, where her faith was an important part of her life.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Rita Branson, Angela Seekamp, Diane Honeycutt, and Melody Branson; son, Michael Branson; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Dale Brown.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Danny Honeycutt. A private burial will be held.
