Samuel Earl Morefield, age 89, of Little Dry Run Rd., Butler, TN passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, April 9, 2025 at his home. He joined his Lord and Savior and his wife Anna Ruth who passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Earl was born December 31, 1935 to the late Luke and Ann Morefield. In addition to his parents and his wife of 71 years Anna Ruth Morefield, Earl was preceded in death by sisters, Diane Guy, Nancy Cannon, and Jean Arnette; brothers, James Morefield, Luke “Junior” Morefield, Stacy Morefield, and Everette Morefield; and his son-in-law, Don Hazelwood.

Earl was well known for farming which he did all his life. He enjoyed growing tobacco, gardening, and old tractors. His family will always hold the memories dear of Earl drawing mules on paper bags for all the children in the family, and how good he was at whistling. Earl was a role model to many and was a big influence in his community. Additionally, he was a pillar and faithful member of Midway Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memories include his daughters, Diana Hazelwood, Betty Wolfe and husband Eddie, Linda K. Morefield; son, Chuck Morefield and wife Nancy; grandchildren, Jason Wolfe, Jennifer Lefler and Tyler Morefield; great-grandchildren, Luke Wolfe, Katie Haulsey, Kelsie Kirk, Jett, Colt, and Bodee Morefield; great great-grandchildren, Maizie Haulsey, Kyler Liberto, Denver Liberto, and Presley Fletcher; sisters, Bessie Hammons, Mary Townsend and husband Wilbert, Peggy Woodard, and Grace Osborne and husband Carl; brothers, Edd Morefield and wife Helen, Harold Morefield and wife Louise, and Bud Morefield and wife Kathy; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Midway Baptist Church, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Greg Thompson officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow the funeral from the Samuel E. Morefield & Family Cemetery at the home place. Pallbearers will be Doyle Tester, Tyler Morefield, Dusty Lefler, Wesley Ward, James Ward, Cody Tester, and Tom Pass. Honorary pallbearers are Marshall Estep, Jason Wolfe, Tyler Thompson, Jim Phillips, Junior Potter, Eddie Wolfe, Larry Grindstaff, and his church family at Midway Baptist Church.
