Roy Lee Winebarger, age 77 of Creston, passed away peacefully on 2/17/2021 at his home, with his family. Born 3/10/1943, Roy retired after 42 years of working for Bernhardt Furniture in Lenoir. He then retired again after 12 years of working at Tweetsie Railroad. He was a faithful and respected member, deacon, and Sunday school teacher at Pine Mountain Baptist Church. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Conley and Alma; his brothers, Enoch, JC, Marty, Avery, and Marion, and his sister, Crissy Lewis. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Lewis Winebarger; his daughters Gloria (James) Payne and Karen Winebarger; his grandchildren, Tyrel Winebarger, Ryan Payne, Thea (Jesse) Ball, and Trace (Brittany) Cannon; his great grandchildren, Kenton Ball, Kaydilee Ball, Corbin Darnell, and Desmond Ball, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors at Roy's and Mary's home on Thursday and Friday, February 18 and 19; a viewing service will be held at Mountain City Funeral Home on Saturday, February 20 from 5pm to 7pm. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 21 at 2pm at Mountain City Funeral Home, officiated by Rector Henson, Jesse Ball, and Derrik Wilson. A burial service will follow the funeral at the Roy Winebarger Family Cemetery on Pine Mountain. The pallbearers will be Tyrel Winebarger, Ryan Payne, James Payne, Trace Cannon, Jesse Ball, Ronnie Brown, Kenton Ball, and Corbin Darnell.
