Ronald Lee Henson, lovingly known to many as Ronnie, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on April 14, 2026. Born on January 25, 1966, in Charlotte, NC, Ronnie's life was a testament to dedication, service, and boundless love for his family and community.

Ronnie was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, a commitment that reflected his lifelong devotion to serving others. After his military service, he devoted many years to his career with the Tennessee Department of Correction, retiring as the East Region Facility Director. His leadership extended beyond his professional duties, as he also served as chairman of the grand jury. His most recent position was the director of the Northeast Tennessee Regional Recovery Center where he helped men in recovery turn their lives around and be more successful through a faith based program.

Ronnie was a member of First Christian Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon and chairman of the board. His love language was one of acts of service—a devotion he extended generously to his family, church members, neighbors, and community alike.

Ronnie was more than a husband; he was a best friend to his wife Chelley, with whom he shared nearly 39 years of marriage filled with unwavering love and companionship. He was a devoted father to his children, Lucas Henson and wife Haylie "Haylie-Bear", and Trevor Henson and wife Faith "Faithy". Survivors also include his mother, Jean Henson; grandchildren, Colton Lee Henson, Hadlie Jo Henson, and Baby Henson on the way; siblings Lisa Stout, Donnie Henson (Judy), and Bo Henson (Terri); several nieces and nephews.

Though the family has endured profound loss with the passing of his father, Ray Henson, daughter Molly Blackwell, son-in-law Nick Blackwell, and granddaughter Harper Blackwell, Ronnie’s legacy of love endures through those who remain.

Ronnie cherished spending time outdoors, with hobbies that included hunting and fishing. These simple joys often brought him closer to family, creating treasured memories with his children and grandchildren. He was known to be a loving PawPaw, whose gentle nature and acts of care touched the hearts of many.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at First Christian Church. The funeral service will follow with Minister Dwayne Dickson officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow the funeral at Sunset Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Jamie Roberts, Jesse Wilson, Jerry Gentry, Camden Johnson, Ethan Smith, Jacob Henson, and Will Henson. Honorary pallbearers are Colton Henson, Jaxton Johnson, and the Elders and Deacons of First Christian Church.
