Roger W. Morefield

Roger W. Morefield, age 70, of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee,(Sugar Creek Community) passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at his home.  He was born on February 13, 1949, in Mountain City, Johnson County, TN to the late Marvin Morefield and Effie Greer Morefield. In addition to his parents Roger was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Gentry, three brothers, Johnny, Charles and Jack Morefield. Roger was a 1969 Johnson County High School Graduate.  He had worked at the Pottery Plant in Laurel Bloomery, Shoe plant in Mountain City and at Mobay in Damascus, VA. Roger was also a farmer all of his life and had since retired. He was a member of Stateline Baptist Church. Roger is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Ann Vannoy Morefield.  They were married February 16, 1973.  He is also survived by one daughter, Effie Mink and husband Doug, two grandchildren, Austin and Andrew Mink, one brother, Ralph Morefield and wife Sheila, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at the Mountain City Funeral Home.  Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastors Michael Icenhour and Paul Graybeal officiating.  Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the Stateline Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Cody Tester, Randy Eller, Mike Morefield, Bob Mink Chris Summerow and Jeff Lipford.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Mink, Wayne Gentry, Steve Carlson, Jack Eller, Josh Perkins, Dr. Kahn and The Men at Stateline Baptist Church. At other times the family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Effie Mink 167 Wilson Ln., Laurel Bloomery, TN 37680. Memorials may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
