Robert Wayne Roark

Robert Wayne Roark, age 78, of Trade, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, November 07, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.  He was born on March 19, 1940 to the late John Milton Roark and Mary Kate Jones Roark.  In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Roark; sisters:   Virgie Brown and Ruth Campbell and brothers:  Don Roark, William Roark and Dave Roark.   

Robert worked for Darrell Brinkley at Brinkley Sawmill for many years.  He also worked in the mushroom houses in Pennsylvania.  Robert was an avid listener of bluegrass and old country music.  He was a very kind and caring man who loved his family very much. 

Those left to cherish his memories include his companion of 15 years, Ruth ‘Nip’ Lawson; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Beverly Roark; brothers, Ronald Roark; grandson, Matthew Roark; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Mountain City Funeral Home.  Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Shady Valley Memorial Gardens with Ricky Campbell, nephew of Robert, officiating. Family will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Lowe, Wayne McKinney, Eric Lowe, Carol Jenkins and Haskle McQueen.

The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to Robert’s nursing staff at Amedysis Home Health and Hospice, especially to Lori Ligon, Gale Miller and Stephanie Jones.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 787 Fred Wallace Road, Trade, TN 37691. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shady Valley Volunteer Fire Department, 10114 Hwy 421, Shady Valley, TN 37688.
