Richard Mink

Richard Dean Mink, age 51, passed away October 8, 2026 at UNC Chapel Hospital after a brief illness. Richard was born October 14, 1974 to Dean and Susie Mink.

Richard was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a helicopter mechanic. Outside of his military service, he later obtained a CBET degree and worked as a biomedical engineer. Richard enjoyed many hobbies and interests including woodworking and making hobucken game calls. He was an avid hunter and liked spending time in nature with his beloved dogs. Richard was also a third-degree Mason and a FFL dealer.

In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memories include his fiancé, Renea Woodard; daughter, Katlin Howard; sons, Nathan Mink, Jonah Mink; brother, Kevin Mink (Rebecca); grandson, Carson Tilson; special friend, Jordan Gray; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at Mountain City Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow with Pastor Ted Lewis officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers are Jordan Gray, Dennis Stout, Cameron Martin, Howard Stout and Shane Hodge.
