Otis Richardson

Otis James “Dob” Richardson, age 88, of Mountain City, TN; passed away Monday morning May 13, 2024 at Mountain City Care and Rehab Center. He was born October 24, 1935 in Ashe County, NC (Tuckerdale) to the late Stacy Elcana Richardson and Eula Ada Taylor Richardson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alma Rupard Richardson; sisters, Clyde Richardson, Ruby Richardson, Flossie Taylor; brothers, Bobby Richardson, Clark Richardson, Junior Richardson, and Hunter Richardson and step-daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Dunn Cress.

Dob was a simple man, who loved for everyone to be HAPPY. He loved Whitetop, Va., especially his hunting trips there. Dob was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and gardener.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Rita Blankenship Dunn; daughter, Kimberly Richardson and husband Danny Shaw of Whitetop, Va; step-son, Victor Dunn and wife Linda; brothers, Roy Richardson, Bruce Richardson and Bynum Richardson; grandsons, Ethan and Evan Shaw; step-grandchildren, Savanna and Brianna Cress; step great grandchild, Mason Alexander Galyon; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. The graveside service and burial will be held at Byers Cemetery in Whitetop, Va. following the funeral. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
