Opal Greer

Opal Mae Greer, age 99, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at her home in Damascus, VA. Opal was born on March 19, 1921 to the late Roby Lee Greer and Viller Lewis Greer in Campbellsville, KY. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 74 years, Odell Jesse Greer; daughters, infant Shelby Greer, Anna Dolinger, Carolyn Gentry; infant son, Ralph Greer; sister, Ruth Dolinger; brothers, Robert Greer, Albert Greer, Jesse Greer, and Howard Greer. Opal lived a long life, always putting her family first. She enjoyed reading her bible, sewing and quilting. She was a member of Green Cove Missionary Baptist Church. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Bill Greer, Ogene Greer, Larry Greer, Gary Greer; sisters, Mary Anderson, Betty Pennington; brothers, Spencer Greer, Elmer Greer, Harold Greer, Harlan Greer; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild ; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00 on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Green Cove Missionary Baptist Church in Damascus, VA. The graveside service and burial will follow at 1:00 at the church cemetery with Pastor Dennis Poe officiating. Pallbearers will be Alex Dolinger, Tracy Odell Dolinger, Deanie Gentry, Justin Gentry, Austin Gentry, and Jesse Greer. Honorary pallbearers are Trace Dolinger and Dean Gentry.
