Nannie S. Vaught, age 93, of Mountain City, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Mountain City Care Center. She was born April 8, 1932 to the late Roby and Maude Stout. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Vaught; daughter, Joanie Dale Winters; brothers, Fred Stout, Edward “Peanut” Stout; and special friend, Drue Balderson.
Nannie played the piano for 47 years; she started as a teenager at Roan Creek Baptist Church and later at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Nannie and Dale were married May 17, 1952. She spent most of her life on the farm as a farmer’s wife and a homemaker. Nannie was a very loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Nannie was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memories include her grandson, Adam Winters; great grandchildren, Prailey, Adalynn and Ellis; sister-in-law, Mildred Lowe; special friends, Pat and Hilda Conville, Blake and JoAnne Atwood, Kenny Ray and Betty Vaught, Annis Jesse, Vivian Simcox and Gretchen Campbell.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Mountain City Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held following the visitation at 1:30 P.M. at Vaught Cemetery with Pastor Bill Worley and Pastor Will Kerley to officiate. Pallbearers will be Jody Hawkins, Pat Conville, John Shull, Joe Simcox, Brian Vaught and Mike Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are Blake Atwood, Kenny Ray Vaught and her church family at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Mountain City Care Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
