Michael Howes

Michael Howes, age 70, of Butler, Tennessee, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center.  He was born on September 28, 1948 to the late Jennings Howes and Grace Miller Howes.  In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by sisters, Betty and Frances and one brother, Jennings Howes.

Michael enjoyed going to antique stores and collected antique lamps.  He was a United States Navy Veteran and member of Cobbs Creek Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 43 years, Mary Johnson Howes; sons, Justin Howes of the home and Charles Howes and wife Jenny; two grandchildren, Nigel Howes and Stella Howes, all of Mars Hill, NC; sisters, Charlotte McNelly of OH and Eileen Matherly and husband Jay of Butler, TN; his little buddy, Hoover; several nieces and nephews and his church family at Cobbs Creek Baptist.   

Graveside service with military honors conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at the Matherly Cemetery with Pastor Mack Arnold Jr. officiating.  Pallbearers are Eric Matherly, Ethan Johnson, Robert Johnson Jr., Andy Johnson, Chris Laws, and David Johnson.  Honorary pallbearers are Men of Cobbs Creek Baptist Church, Ted Pierce, Buster Fritts and Scott Forrester.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
