Melvel Mack Wagner, age 73, passed away on June 2, 2022 at his home. Mel was born on January 28, 1949 to the late Vaught Wagner and Bonnie McQueen Wager. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Teresa Wagner and brother, Gary Wayne Wagner and wife Kathy. Mel was a retired bus driver and maintenance worker from the Johnson County School System. He was a dedicated member of the Dry Run Fire Department, Butler Fire Department, and Elk Mills Fire Department. He was also a board member for Tri-State Co-op and served as a mason for the Roan Creek Lodge and as a constable in the 80s. Mel enjoyed farming and was always on his tractor. He also adored his special dog, Lady. He was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church. Those left to cherish his memories include his son, Jody Wagner and wife Kala; nephew, Tafton Wagner and wife Kristy; great nephew and niece, Hunter and Chloe Wagner. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Sugar Grove Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Don Winters officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow the funeral at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dave Johnson, Robert Johnson, Ray Lunceford, Tafton Wagner, Bobby Swift, and Hunter Wagner.
