Mary Lois Wood, age 80, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at her home. Lois was born August 5, 1945 in Laurel Bloomery to the late Walter and Lura Gentry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert David Wood; daughter, Diana Dunn; brother, Bill Gentry and sister, Thelma Roberts.
Lois was the best Nana and loved being surrounded by kids, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed getting her hair and nails done and was always up for a shopping trip. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Corinth Bapitst Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Missy Gobble (Sam); brother, Dean Gentry; grandchildren, Tiffani Dunn, Ayla Welch (Caleb), Ashley Kidd, Nicole Jarrett, Heather Williamson (JT); great grandchildren, Skylar, Zoey, Ry, Cami, Mary, Sabrina, Albert, Wyatt, Ollie, Ava, Abraham, Esther; special niece, Debra Icenhour; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Bill Morefield officiating. Lois will be buried at Mountain Home National Cemetery alongside her husband on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy, Sam, Ryan, Richard, JT and Caleb.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Mountain City Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
