Mary Sue Smith Arnold

Mary Sue Smith Arnold     Mary Sue Smith Arnold, age 82, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born on February 12, 1936, in Bristol, VA, to the late Allison Smith and Mary Lee Slagle Smith.  In addition to her parents Sue was preceded in death by her husband John Henry Arnold (May 31, 2016), a daughter, Lisa Beth Arnold (June 18, 1981), sister, Edna Mae Smith Bailey, brothers, Donald Smith, Ralph Smith, Frank ‘Duke’ Smith, Henry Smith, Paul Smith, Freddie Smith and Ronnie Smith .   Sue was known by many by her work at Mountain City Glove Factory for 40 years and The Trading Post store for 10 years. She loved her yard work and truly enjoyed bargain hunting. She was a member of First Baptist Church for 55 years and truly enjoyed going to church and attending her Sunday School class.   Those left to cherish her memories include her sons, Johnny Arnold and wife Debbie and Randy G. Arnold who was with his Mom all the time, grandchildren, April Arnold and Jonathan Arnold and wife Ashley, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thank you to her niece Cathy Buchanan who was more like Sue’s sister, special thanks to Cindy Church.   Graveside service will be held at Mountain City Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ricky Campbell and Richard Stout officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Jonathan Arnold, Kenny Bailey, John Payne, Tommy Rhymer, Eric Cullop, Danny Cullop & Bob Syder. Honorary pallbearers are Sue’s Sunday School Class (Fidelis).   At other times the family will receive friends at the home, 1290 S.
