Mamie Matkins

Mamie Lee Matkins age 58, of Creston, NC passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at her home. She was born February 8, 1968 to the late Elisha Blevins and Lilly Blevins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Thelma Louise Perry, brother, David Harrison Blevins and her fiancé, Tony Maltba.

Mamie was a loving soul who touched many lives with kindness, laughter, and love. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Joseph Matkins and wife Brooke of Creston, NC, Steve Matkins and Kevin Matkins both of West Jefferson, NC; daughter, Shannon Greer of West Jefferson, NC; sisters, Sue Blevins of Grayson County, VA, Lorraine Blevins of Grayson County, VA, Geneva Treadway of Creston, NC, Juanita Perry of Ashe County, NC; brother, Herman Blevins of Ashe County, NC; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Sheets Gap Cemetery (4677 Blue Ridge Parkway, Laurel Springs, NC, 28644) where she will be laid to rest with her late fiancé, Tony. A fellowship meal will follow at Blue Ridge Worship Center (7070 NC Hwy 16 S, Jefferson, NC 28630).
