Maggie Marie Brown, age 98, passed away peacefully at her home on December 28, 2020 after an extended illness. Maggie was born on October 12, 1922 to the late Solomon and Mary Price in Ashe County, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl Brown; infant daughter, Peggy Joann Brown; son, Willie Gene Brown; sisters, Minnie Price, Clemmie Price; brothers, Thurman Price, Troy Price, Franklin Price; and special nephew that she thought of as a son, Roger Price. Maggie was born on a mountain in North Carolina and has always been such a loving Christian lady. She was an avid vegetable and flower gardener and took pride in keeping her home and yard immaculate. She loved to read God’s word and did so every day. She was known for her famous answer to many questions, “It’s the Lord’s business.” Maggie was a member of Nelson Chapel Baptist Church. Those left to cherish her memories include her grandchildren, Debbie Snyder and husband Bob, Deena Icenhour and husband Sam; great grandchildren, Connor Icenhour, Ashlee Harris and husband Brad, Samuel Icenhour and wife Eden; daughter-in-law, Nancy Brown; brother, Richard Price; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Mountain City Funeral Home with Chaplain Chris Hughes and Pastor Sam Icenhour officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow at the Brown Cemetery in Forge Creek. Pallbearers will be Connor Icenhour, Samuel Icenhour, Brad Harris, Mitchell Lowe, Steve McCoy, and Robert Price. Honorary pallbearers are the Amedysis Hospice Team. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Maggie’s caregiving family during her illness - Carolyn Beebe, Sue Welch, Ann Marie Riser, Phyllis Rominger, Judy Morris, Mary Ward, Tina Dunn, Cindy Hyder, Phyllis Miller, Amedysis Hospice, and Nurses Cassie Church and Gail Miller.
