Lydia Evalee Lewis, age 85, of Shady Valley, went to be with her Lord on Friday, December 31, 2021 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Lydia was born in Bristol, TN to the late Walter McQueen and Alva Kress McQueen on October 16, 1936. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ben M. Lewis; sons, Calvin Lewis and Conrad Lewis; sister, Sharlene Wright, and brother, Haskell T. McQueen. Lydia loved her family and family gatherings. She enjoyed traveling and trips to Dollywood and was a fan of Barter Theatre. Lydia was Postmaster of Shady Valley Post Office for many years. She was a full community supporter of Shady Valley Fire Department and member of the Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Lydia was a member of Shady Valley Church of Christ. Those left to cherish her memories include her daughters, Clarice Crowder and husband, Randy, and Carolyn Lewis; sister, Reba Robinson; brothers, Charles McQueen and wife, Helen, Kerby McQueen and wife, Linda; grandchildren, Christine Carter and husband Ronald, Leslie Davis and husband Darren, Cayla Arney and husband, Chad; great-grandchildren, Roshanna Carter, Randy Carter, Colton Saults, and Callie Saults; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Kimra Campbell and Mary Cornett. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Shady Valley Church of Christ. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Minister Buddy Morefield officiating. A graveside service and burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Blevins Cemetery in Shady Valley, TN. Pallbearers will be Kenneth McQueen, Bradley McQueen, Jeff Lewis, Stuart Hutchinson, Gary Shelby, Russell Robinson, Lynn Robinson, and Chad Arney. Honorary Pallbearers are Tom Hutchinson, Ron Carter, Terry Hutchinson, David McQueen, Darren Davis, Brian McQueen, Julian Robinson, Kerby McQueen II and Chuck Wright. Memorials may be made in Lydia’s memory to the Shady Valley Fire Department, c/o Conley Gentry, 340 Walker Rd. Shady Valley, TN 37688.
