Louella Dunn

Louella Dunn, 90, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, hard work, and devotion to family that will be cherished for generations.

Louella was a woman of unwavering Christian faith and a longtime member of Nelson Chapel Baptist Church. Her trust in the Lord guided her throughout her life and provided a foundation of strength, grace, and compassion that touched everyone who knew her.

Known for her strong work ethic, Louella was never one to shy away from hard work. She took pride in caring for her family and home and found joy in the simple traditions that brought people together. She was a talented quilter whose handiwork will be treasured for years to come, and she loved canning, preserving the fruits of her labor to share with those she loved.

Louella had a special gift for making people feel seen and appreciated. She always had a kind word, a compliment, and a warm smile to offer. She especially loved seeing family and friends dressed up and never missed a chance to admire a beautiful outfit. Her encouragement and genuine interest in others made everyone around her feel special and loved.

Many will remember Louella for her delicious cooking, especially her famous banana pudding, which became a beloved family tradition. The memories made around her table will forever be held close to the hearts of those who knew her.

Above all else, Louella loved her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Louella was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Vestal; her grandparents, Charles and Amanda Vestal, who lovingly raised her; her aunt, Florence Vestal; her brother, Cecil Vestal; the love of her life and husband of 50 years, Lloyd Dunn; her special companion, Bob Garland.

She is survived by her sons, Lester (Mary) Dunn and Ronnie Dunn; her grandchildren, Chris (Brittany) Dunn and Matthew Dunn; and her great-grandchildren, Mason Dunn, Kenzie Dunn, and Kaylee Dunn, who were truly her pride and joy.

She is also survived by her extended family, Kathy and Jerold Price and family, Ann and Greg Proffitt family, Alice Garland and family, Peggy Farmer and family, and Bo and Joe Garland, as well as special friends Nancy Brown, Eddie Cross, Debbie and Bob Snyder, along with many other relatives, friends, and church family members who were blessed by her love and friendship.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the hospice staff for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided to Louella and her family during her final days. Your dedication and comfort meant more than words can express.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Richard Stout, Pastor Sam Icenhour and Pastor Mike McNutt officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Chris Dunn, Matthew Dunn, Eddie Cross, Jerold Price, Mason Dunn, Greg Proffitt, and TJ Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Cornelius, Eddie Cornelius, Jeff Lewis, Rob Trivette, Delza Noble, Lacey Davis, Jack Cress, the students and staff of JCHS and David Campbell.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Gideons International, PO Box 155, Mountain City, TN 37683.

While our hearts are heavy with the loss of Louella, we find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior. Her faith, kindness, strength, and unconditional love will continue to live on through the family she adored and the countless lives she touched.
