Lawrence Edward Fritts, age 87, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at his home. He was born July 27, 1938 in Johnson County, TN to the late John Milton Fritts and Dorothy Crete Simcox. In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alma Ruth Lewis Fritts, and his two brothers, Kenneth Edwin Fritts and Malcolm Glen Fritts.
Lawrence had a heart for giving and was an avid Tennessee Volunteers and Atlanta Braves fan and never met a stranger. He owned and operated Fritts Grocery & Supply from 1973 until 1989 and lived in Orlando, Florida from 1989 until 2021 before moving back to his home on Crackers Neck in Mountain City. He loved yard work, his family, boating, and working as a general sales manager in the floor covering industry. Above all, Lawrence loved the Lord and always remained steadfast in his faith and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memories include his daughter, Melanie Fritts Miller and husband Bob of Elizabethton, TN, son, Troy Fritts and wife Kristin of Altamonte Springs, FL, grandchildren Holly Bishop of Jonesborough, TN, Travis Bishop and wife Sarah of Elizabethton, TN, Lacey Lepick and husband Thomas of Meridian, MS, Courtney Fritts of Denver, CO, Kyle Cattaneo of Chicago, IL, and Jorie Cattaneo of Altamonte Springs, FL, as well as great-grandchildren Kayley Rhinehart, Mackenzie Bishop, Memphis Lepick, Kennedy Lepick, Maddox Bishop, Paisley Lepick, Brooklyn Lepick, Easton Bishop, Hudson Lepick, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Will Kerley officiating and a eulogy by Troy Fritts. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Happy Valley Memorial Gardens and officiated by Pastor Jamie Ferguson of Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers are Travis Bishop, Thomas Lepick, Stuart Fritts, Doug Fritts, Desi Ward, Doug Lewis, Eric Mahala, David Fritts, and Jerry Brown.
