Larry Dean Proffitt, age 86, of Slabtown Rd., Mountain City, TN, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at his home. Larry was born July 10, 1939 in Johnson County, TN to the late Stacey Proffitt and Emma Pearl South Proffitt. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jeanette Brown Proffitt; his son, Stephen Proffitt on November 11, 1987; sisters and brothers, Emma Jean, Pauline, Ruby, Ann, Mary Ruth, Claude, Bill, Lloyd, Monroe and two sets of twins.

Larry worked throughout the years as a machinist. He was proud of his service in the United States Navy. Larry always had a project going and was focused on getting it completed. He recently had been attending Cove Creek Baptist Church. Those who knew him best knew of his faithful service to his Lord and Savior, and his goal was spreading the good news about Jesus Christ. Larry had a library of books and different reading materials.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Robin Levick Proffitt; daughter, Debbie Roberts; grandson Kyle Roberts; one brother, Clifton “Tip” Proffitt; Step daughters, Shannan (Rick), Jamie (Sheriff Stacy Ball), step grandchildren, Brian (Tylenia), Devon, Aiden, Lincoln, Kylie, Logan and Rayne; step great grandchild, Kobe; several nieces, nephews and cousins; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Tracie) Levick and Mischa (Kerrie) Vytacil; special friends, Tracy & Mary Arnold, Norma Roark, Grace Levick, Kenny Gregg and Jim Kelly; his fur babies, Muffin and Coco.

Visitation for Larry will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Mountain City Funeral Home with funeral service following at 3:00 p.m. Graveside service will follow from the Stacy Proffitt Cemetery (Slabtown Rd., Mountain City, TN) with Pastor Jim Kelly officiating. Pallbearers will be Kyle Roberts, Brian Helverson, Tracy Arnold, Travis White, Richard Coffey, Randall Coffey and Donald Potter. Military Honors will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard.

Special thank you to the Hospice Team, nurses Savannah, Laura and Lori for their care.

Memorials may be made to the Cove Creek Baptist Church Parsonage, 846 Old Us Hwy 421, Sugar Grove, NC 28679-9551.
