Larry Wayne Hammons   Larry Wayne Hammons, age 67, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at his residence. He was born on November 4, 1951 in Mountain City, TN to the late Sam Hammons and Maxie Willen Hammons. In addition to his parents Larry was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Kathleen Hammons, brothers, Frank Hammons and Fred Hammons. Larry was a fan of all sports and especially the Tennessee Vols and he was a fan of The Pride of the Southland Band. He loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed the birds, cats, dogs and his special dog Jake. Larry farmed for many years. He deeply loved his family and spending time with them and will truly be missed by all. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in Germany. Larry was a member of Central Baptist Church.  Larry is survived by his wife of 39 years, Donna Nemeth Hammons, daughter, Rachel McConoughey and husband Scott, sisters, Ella Mae McCulloch and husband Jim, Nancy Wilson and husband Keith, brothers, Glenn Hammons and wife Charlotte, Richard Hammons and wife Phyllis, sister-in-law, Sharon Bursztyn and husband Michael, grandchildren, Craig McConoughey and Wesley McConoughey, several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 5, 2019 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Mike Penley and Tom Reece officiating. Graveside service and burial will be Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from the Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darrell Hammons, Brian Wilson, Robbie McCulloch, Michael Hammons, Barry Hammons and Hunter Hess. Honorary pallbearers are, Keith Wilson, Bob Taylor, Johnny Taylor, Randy Garr. Military Honors to be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. The family would like to express the sincere thanks and appreciation to the Johnson County EMS, Flo Bellamy, staff of Amedisys Home Health, Staff of Seby Jones Cancer Center and the Wake Forest Cancer Center. Flowers are appreciated or donations may be made to the Johnson County Cancer support group in care of Flo Bellamy, 3520 Hwy 421 N., Mountain City, TN 37683.
