Larry Greer

Larry Dale Greer, age 62, of Damascus, Virginia, passed away July 7, 2023. Larry was born February 13, 1961 to the late Odell and Opal Greer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Anna Dollinger, Shelby Greer, Carolyn Gentry (Dean) and brother, Ralph Greer.

Larry was the greatest father and an avid outdoorsman who loved playing horseshoes. He loved to hear a tree hitting the ground first thing in the morning, it was his favorite sound. He was very kind and helpful to others, but had an ornery streak. He was a member of Green Cove Missionary Baptist Church. 

Those left to cherish his memories include his daughters, Jessica Blevins (Mark) and Britney Meade; brothers, Ogene Greer (Tracy), Bill Greer (Jean), Gary Greer; grandchildren, Emily Foore, Paige Meade, Christian Woodward, Aaron Meade, Lily Meade; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Green Cove Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Dennis Poe officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tracy Dollinger, Deanie Gentry, Justin Gentry, Mark Blevins, Patrick Carney, Jesse Greer, Justin Mullins, and Rondy Greer. Honorary pallbearers are Ogene Greer and Bobby Greer.

At other times, friends and family may visit the home of his daughter, Jessica Blevins at 317 Dry Branch Road, Laurel Bloomery, TN 37680.
