Kenneth Ray Crowder, age 85 of Mountain City, TN, went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, September 21, 2023 at his home. Kenneth was born November 17, 1937 in Johnson County, TN to the late Minnie Crowder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Frances Dick, Magretha Lewis, Wila Dean Lewis, and brother, Hyte Crowder.

Kenneth loved his Lord and Savior. He was a dedicated carpenter by trade and started his career in Delaware, then returned to Johnson County to finish his career until he retired. Kenneth loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. If you knew Kenneth, he was ornery as a snake, tough as a pine knot and wanted things done yesterday. He was a member of Nelson Chapel Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 62 years, Joyce Campbell Crowder; sons, Wayne Crowder and wife Lisa, Jeff Crowder and wife Lisa J. Crowder; grandchildren, Aaron Crowder(Chelsea), Kayla Crowder, Laighthyn and Taryn Crowder; great-grandchildren, Amelia & Tate Crowder;  sisters, Peggy Colmery (Dave) of Newark DE and Sue Staff of Virginia; brother, Gene Crowder of Mountain City, TN; two sisters-in-law, Betty Brown of Chilhowie, VA and Roxie Campbell of Meadowview, VA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastors Frank Woods and Mike McNutt officiating. Graveside service and entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum with Pastor Sam Icenhour officiating. Pallbearers will be Rick Finley, Johnny Campbell, Mike White, Walter Simcox, Robert Wilson, David Arnold, Matthew Lewis and Rick Hoosier. Honorary pallbearers are Earl Lewis, Jake Lewis, Carl Mast, Gerald Lawrence, Don Payne and the Men’s Sunday School Class.

The family would like to thank the Amedisys nurses and Dr. Jim Shine for all the care they gave to Kenneth for the past eight and half years and also all the hospice nurses for the love and care given to Kenneth.

At other times, family will receive friends at the home, 4086 Forge Creek Road, Mountain City, TN 37683.
