Kate McCoy

Kate Lewis McCoy, age 79, passed away Monday evening, July 28, 2025 at her home. She was born May 10, 1946 to the late Asa Lewis and Vica Arnold Lewis. In addition to her parents, Kate was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack McCoy; grandson, T.J. Johnson; and brothers, Russell Lewis and Joe Lewis.

Kate was an avid reader and loved to garden. She was known for her famous potato salad and strawberry tall cakes. Kate adored her church family and was a devoted member of Hammons Chapel Church.

Those left to cherish her memories include her daughters, Jeanne Johnson and Amanda Hamm (Brian); grandchildren, Callie Nichols (Michael) and Karlee Hamm; great-grandchildren, Chloe Johnson and Onna Dickens; brother, Jake Lewis (Arlene); sister, Julie Mae Stout; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at the Dunn Cemetery with Pastor Joshua Giddings officiating. Pallbearers will be Kate’s nephews and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hammons Chapel Church playground fund.

At other times the family will receive friends at the home but respectfully requests no food.
