Josephine Miller Vaught

Josephine Miller Vaught, age 85, passed away October 10, 2026 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born June 27, 1941 to the late Russell and Inez Miller. In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her daughter, Diana Watson; brother, Jack Miller; and sisters, Lois Reece, Betty Stout, and Louise Matheson.

Josephine was a hardworking woman who devoted herself to her family, her faith, and serving others. She was a dedicated member of First Christian Church, where she faithfully cleaned and cared for the church for many years. One of Josephine’s greatest joys was spending time with her great-granddaughters. She treasured the special moments spent with them, and they brought much happiness to her life.

Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Beth Howell; granddaughter, Lindsey Howell (Todd) and Amanda Presley; great-grandchildren, Baylee Jo Howell, Brynlee Cross, Taylor Coleman, Brian Presley, and Jacob Presley; sisters, Mary Nell Lewis and Maxine Miller; several nieces and nephews; dear friends, Earl Greer and Reba Blevins and her son Zander.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. The graveside service and burial will immediately follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Joe Lewis, Todd Cross, and Jamie McElyea.
