Nancy JoAnn Cable (Nanny) entered the arms of her Lord and Savior on August 6, 2026 at Johnson City Medical Center. She was born to Joseph and Florance Smith on March 29, 1937. She spent most of her life as a homemaker and loved her family dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elbert Cable of 61 years, her sisters Betty, June, Gerldine, Christine, and her brothers, Vernon “Cotton” and Terry.
Nanny loved to sew, shop, go on road trips, and most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Nanny was an active member of Meadowview Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Barbara Reece (Robert); daughter, Lisa Dugger (Jerry); son, James Cable; granddaughters, Amanda Fagan (Eric), Brandy Curtis (Brian), Nicole Bowers (Ty), Kayla Arnold and Shawna Metcalf (Alton), Hannah Baird; 20 great grandkids; 6 great great grandkids; sister-in-law, Barbara Smith; several nieces and nephews. Also her bonus daughter, Lisa Blevins and best friends, Lee Arney, Lena Arney, Kathy Hartley, and Alma Jones.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with J.R. Bunton and Robert Reece officiating. The graveside service and burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Crosswhite Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Fagan, Brian Curtis, Ty Bowers, Doug Arnold, Doug Arney, and Michael Walsh. Honorary pallbearers are Bryce Fagan, Colton Fagan, Justin Arnold, Braxton Arnold, Dalton Bowers, Reid Bowers, Brantley Curtis, Ryland Fagan, Cody Fagan, Dylan Arnold and her church family.
