Jim Johnson

James “Jim” Johnson went home to be with his heavenly Father on October 25, 2023 at Johnson City Medical Center.

Jim was a faithful member of Butler Baptist Church for many years. He loved his Lord and wanted his life and death to glorify his Lord. He was a caregiver to his mom for seven years before her passing. He loved making arrowheads and jewelry with special stones. He also loved carpentry work. The CB radio community knew him as Red Eagle and he made friends around the world over the radio.

He was preceded in death by his father, Troy Johnson; his mother, Eva Kate White Johnson; brothers, Dwight Johnson, Bob Johnson and sister, Teresa Wagner.

Survivors include a daughter, Julie Brown (Derrick) of Nashville; granddaughter, Hannah Brown; two sisters, Mary Howes and Bonnie Reece (Eddie); three brothers, Doug Johnson, David Johnson (Patty), Andy Johnson (Angie); several nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to his nephew, Little Bob/Peanut Johnson who faithfully took him to his appointments and took him to restaurants of his choice before taking him home. He also loved his big fat cat, Pokey, that gave Jim a lot of comfort and joy.

The graveside service and burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Sugar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Dan Woods officiating. Music will be under the direction of Dan Woods. Pallbearers are David Johnson, Doug Johnson, Andy Johnson, Peanut Johnson, Justin Howes, Charlie Howes, Ethan Johnson, Richard Davenport, Jody Wagner, and Tony Reece.

A special thanks to Dr. Shine and nurse, Kathleen, Flo Bellamy at the Cancer Support Group, the doctors, nurses and the hospice team at Johnson City Medical Center for the care they gave Jim.
