Jannett Dare Pennington Caldwell, 80, of Avondale, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 15th, 2026. She was the wife of David Edward Caldwell with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.

She was born in Ashe County, NC, in the town of Fig, to the late Ephraim Riley and Mattie Edith (Osborne) Pennington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Ephraim Pennington, Jr, Gary Pennington, Paul Pennington and Larry Pennington (infant) and daughters, Sandra Elaine Powers and Pauletta Ann Caldwell.

She is survived by her husband, David Caldwell; daughter, Terri Stinson (Chris); brother, Curtis Pennington (Sandy); sister, Regina Pennington; grandson, David Powers (Daphne); granddaughters, Elizabeth Powers (Jorge) and Jessica Stinson; great granddaughters, Bella, Ava and Harley; her cat, Violet and many more family and friends too tedious to mention.

Jannett was a graduate of Goldey Beacom College. She was a faithful woman who enjoyed painting, quilting, sewing, puzzles, games and above all spending time with family and friends.

Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation on Saturday June 27th, 2026, from 10am-11am at Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S Church St., Mountain City, TN 37683. A funeral service will follow at 11am. Interment will follow at the Osborne Family Cemetery. Afterwards,

Jannett’s life will be celebrated at Big Laurel Church of Christ in Christian Union Fellowship Hall. A separate memorial service will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Alzheimer’s Association, The American Lung Association or a church or charity of your choice.

The family of Jannett Dare Pennington Caldwell has entrusted her services to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S. Church Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
