James Charles Johnson, age 76 of Creston, NC, passed away at Ashe Memorial Hospital October 20, 2021. He was born August 13, 1945 in Ashe County to the late Charlie and Martha Osborne Johnson. He was a Vietnam veteran. He loved hunting, fishing, trading, vintage cars and trucks, and cooking. He is loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by one sister, Mildred Graybeal and husband Darrell; one brother, Michael Johnson and wife Sheila both of Creston, NC; two daughters, Lena Roland of West Jefferson, NC and Lynn Farmer of Creston, NC; one son, Larry Johnson of Washington, DC; one grandson Caitlin Price of Trade, TN; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and close cousin, Carley Osborne. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Big Laurel Church of Christ and Christian Union. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Darrell Graybeal officiating.
