James "J.D." Jones

James Dillard “J.D.” Jones James Dillard Jones, better known as J.D., age 80, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Watauga Medical Center. James was born on March 1, 1942 to the late Ralston and Verda Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patsy Lewis; and brothers, JR Jones and Farris Jones. J.D. was a loving husband who adored his children and grandchild. He was a good Christian man who loved his Lord and Savior. J.D. enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, but his true passion was farming. He was a talented musician who sang and played the guitar and was part of the group Pine Mountain Boys. He was loved by all and a friend to everyone. J.D. attended Pleasant Hill Church. Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife of 57 years, Norma Jones; daughter, Angela Hurley and husband, Preacher Rick Hurley; son, Dwayne Jones and wife, Lisa; granddaughter, Amelia Jones; brother, Johnny Jones and wife, Maggie; sisters, Mae Johnson, Mary Bell Blevins, Arzella Roush, Kathleen Keys and husband, Reggie, Barbara Roush and husband, Rodney and Bonnie Lewis; and several nieces and nephews. An all-day viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Mountain City Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 17, 2022 at the Jones and Lewis Cemetery on Pine Mountain Road with Pastor Tommy Wurth and Brother Rick Hurley officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. James requested no flowers to be sent and the family requests no food. Condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.mountaincityfh.com.
