  James A. Gentry     James A. Gentry age 78, of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee passed away on Saturday morning, January 4, 2020 at the Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born April 22, 1941 in Bluefield, West Virginia to the late Elbert Gentry and Victoria Pennington Gentry. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Destie Greer.   James loved his family dearly and was a loyal friend to many. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle, and always owned horses. He drove a school bus for 18 years and always enjoyed being with the kids. James was a true cowboy at heart.   He was a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church.   Those left to cherish his memories include, his wife of 56 years Charlotte Sue Roark Gentry; two daughters, Mary Lipford and husband Tim, and Dawn Stanton and husband Larry; one son, James(Tim) Gentry and girlfriend Sherry Adams; one sister, Voreda Genry; nephew,  Rick Grayson who was more like a younger brother; nephews, Frank Grayson, Mike Grayson, and Jamie Grayson; nieces, Kay Cook and Adina Hicks, special friend, Earlene Lay.   The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor David Hankal to officiate. Graveside service and burial will be on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. from the Stateline Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Stanley, Joe Stanley, Casey Stanley, Gus Stanley, Gary Collins, and Keith Dugger. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Eller, James Hampton, Ricky Grayson, Eric Taylor, Bill Gentry, and Mack Brown.   At other times the family will receive friends at the home, 524 Gentry Creek Rd, Laurel Bloomery, TN   Condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.mountaincityfh.com   The family of James A.
