James D Everett

James D. Everett, age 79, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Mountain City Care Center. James was born on September 9, 1940 in Mountain City, TN to the late Paul T. Everett and Sally Davis Everett. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Everett Grayson; brother, William R. Everett and wife Carol; nieces, Kim Grayson Marshall and Lisa Everett; nephews, William R. Everett Jr and Brad Everett.   James was a 1958 graduate of Johnson County High School. After high school, he attended the University of Tennessee and graduated in 1962 with a degree in Engineering/Physics. He also graduated from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, with an MBA. He was an entrepreneur and was one of the original engineers and founders of Datapoint Corporation in San Antonio, Texas. He was a vice president of manufacturing/engineering at Datapoint Corp. He was also the vice president of Digital Equipment Corporation in Springfield, Massachusetts and vice president of manufacturing/engineering at Spectradyne in Dallas, Texas. He was a very creative engineer and received a patent for a door bar that he designed and created. His creativity carried over to his home, which he loved to constantly update and refurbish. James attended First United Methodist Church in Mountain City, TN.   He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Daisy Long Everett; son, Paul T. Everett and wife Teri; grandson, Alexander Justin Everett and wife Caitlin; granddaughter, Amy Jo Everett McCollum and husband, Jonathan; nephew, Todd Grayson and wife Melody (daughters, Gracie and Holly and son, Patrick); nieces, Eve Grayson, Sally Grayson Watson and husband Keith (son, Christopher Watson), Vickie Everett (daughter of William R. Everett).   The services of James D. Everett will be held at the First United Methodist Church at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2020. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.   Honorary pallbearers will be the JCHS Class of 1958.   Condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.mountaincityfh.com   The family of James D.
