James Dewey Mahala

James “Dewey” Mahala, age 92, of Creston, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. He was born on January 30, 1929 to the late Jenny Mahala. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Janice Roark Mahala, son-in-law, Tom Trivette. Dewey was a true outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, farming, and hunting ginseng. He loved his bees and enjoyed working with honey. Dewey cherished his family and always liked telling a good story. Those left to cherish his memories include his daughters, Jennifer Trivette and Shannon Milam; sons: Ronald Mahala and wife Janice, Tim Mahala and wife Tammy, Kenny Mahala, Randall Mahala and wife Lisa, Kyle Mahala and Shane Mahala; brother, Shelton Mahala; grandchildren: Josh Mahala, Jared Mahala, D.J. Mahala, Brianna Bledsoe, Ashley Jones, Apryl Cole, Aaryn Pace, Cole Trivette, Stephanie Hayes, Rachel Trivette, Chelsea Hefner, Brittany Hursey, Courtney Mahala, Nicholas Mahala, Christopher Mahala, Michael Mahala, Leslie Lewis and Lisa Marie Harmon; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special dog, Little Bit. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Rock Creek Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow with Pastor Anthony Roark officiating. The family requests if you have any signs of sickness to please wear a mask. Burial will follow at the Roark-Price Family Cemetery. Pallbearers are Josh Mahala, Jared Mahala, DJ Mahala, Nicholas Mahala, Christopher Mahala, Michael Mahala and Cole Trivette.
