Jack H South

Jack Hobert South, age 82, passed away on November 30, 2022 at Life Care of Elizabethton. Jack was born in Zionville, NC on November 14, 1940 to the late Hobert and Lillie South. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Nancy Jean South Jacobs; his second wife, Susie Jenkins; grandchildren, Melissa South and Jeffrey Denney and his siblings, Penny, Betty, Mae, Bruce, Tommy, Gene, Burl, Kermit, Charles and Clayton. Jack had never met a stranger and found it easy to talk to everyone. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. He also preached on the radio many years ago. He was a member of Locust Gap Baptist Church. Those left to cherish his memories include sons, Richard Payne, Tommy Dean South (Julie), Jerry South (Robin); grandchildren, Marion Joe South, Jared South, Justin South, Spencer South, Paula Coffey, Jill South, Brianna South, Josh South, Jack South, and Joe Denney; great grandchildren, Tae Coffey, Noah Denney, Aiden Denney, Teddy Denney, Titus Coffey; sister, Marie Reece (Harvey); brother, Bill South (Katherine); several nieces and nephews. It was Jack’s wish to be cremated and a graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Zionville Baptist Church Cemetery.
