Iris Baines Morgan Blevins

Iris Baines Morgan Blevins of Mountain City, TN, formerly of Shawboro N.C., passed away on January 15, 2019. She was born on November 17, 1931 in Weeksville, N.C. to the late Arthur Paul and Jessamine Keaton Baines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands Joseph Patrick Morgan Jr. and Telsie Reeves Blevins; a son, Andrew Baines Morgan; a daughter, Linda Morgan Burgess; a sister, Arlene Baines Pritchard; a brother, Lester Keaton Baines; and a nephew, Harold Pritchard Jr.

Iris is survived by a son, Joseph Patrick Morgan III (Rebecca), a daughter, Michele Morgan Umphlett (Harry), four step-sons, Gary, David, Larry and Richard Blevins, a step-daughter, Jeanne Nichols, seven granddaughters, one great-grandson, one great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.

Iris enjoyed the small and simple things in life. She enjoyed being a homemaker, the craft of sewing, and loved singing in church. She was also a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 18, 2019 from 6-8pm at Mountain City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held January 19, 2019 at 11am in the Mountain City Funeral Home with Bishop Tripp Spaulding officiating. The burial will follow in Haw Orchard Cemetery in Mount Rogers, VA.
