Glenn Lipford, Jr.

Glenn Lipford, Jr., age 71, of Mountain City, TN was ushered into Glory while surrounded by family on Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born in Alpoca, West Virginia on November 14, 1947 to the late Glenn Lipford, Sr. and Venia Lefler Lipford Clawson. In addition to his parents Glenn was preceded in death by adopted son, Stacy Lipford, sister, Dixie Tester, brothers, Charles “Butch” Lipford and Jody Clawson. He was a United States Army Veteran having served honorably in Vietnam with B Battery 3rd Battalion 16th Artillery. Glenn enjoyed his vocation of house painting. He also loved fishing, gardening and animals, especially his dog, Oreo. He loved life and loved to laugh. He was a family man and truly will be missed by all. He was of the Baptist faith and trusted Christ as his Savior when he was 18 years old. Glenn is survived by his wife Phyllis Lipford, son, Glenn Lipford, III and stepson, Jamey Icenhour, sisters, Glenda Parsons of PA and Donna Sue Yelton and husband Robert of Hickory, NC, brothers, Tom Lipford and wife Jeanne and Richard Lipford and wife Donna all of Hickory, NC, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews and special friends, Mark Arnold and Mike White. The family will receive friends on Tuesday April 2, 2019 from 1-3 p.m. at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastors Frank Ransom and Tony Potter to officiate. Graveside service and burial will follow the funeral from the Rainbow Cemetery with Military Honors to be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Tom Lipford, Jr., Matthew Lipford, Jamey Icenhour, Gary Trivett, Mark Arnold and Robert Yelton.  Honorary Pallbearer, Ted Trivett, Jr. Friends may call at the home 318 Wilson Ave., Mountain City, TN 37683 or 423-727-4049. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the Rescue Dog, % Melissa Gentry, 977 Harbin Hill Rd., Mountain City, TN 37683.
