Georgia M. Hamlin

Georgia Marylean Hamlin, age 92, of Shady Valley, TN passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025 at Mountain City Care Center. She was born February 2, 1933 to the late Reuben “Buster” Hawks and Viller Victoria Hawks. In addition to her parents, Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Hanable Hamlin; sisters, Lola Vermillion, Leona Forrester, Mary Burkey, and Vergie Fleenor; brothers, Jesse Hawks, Marvin Hawks, Weston Hawks, and Smithy Hawks; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Barry.

Georgia loved being outside, whether it was gardening, splitting wood, or riding her 4 wheeler. She enjoyed wildlife and working in her flowers. Holidays were special to her, especially cooking for her family. Above all, Georgia loved the Lord and always remained steadfast in her faith.

Those left to cherish her memories include her son, Larry Barry of Mountain City; daughters, Jo Anne Pennington and husband David of Mountain City, Sherry Kopper and husband Tony of Shady Valley, and Patsy Cousin of Asheville; grandchildren, Anthony Barry, Tracie Worley, Christina Chandler, Branson Raines, Michael Blevins, Jonathan Shelton, Daniel Owens, Brandy Chavez, and Cassie Worley; several great and great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Greg Poe officiating. The graveside service and burial will immediately follow from Shady Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Larry Barry, Anthony Barry, Michael Blevins, Shannon Worley, Tony Kopper, and Branson Raines.
