Gene Cook

Gene Cook, age 75, passed away Friday evening, August 21, 2026 at Mountain City Care Center. He was born June 8, 1951 to the late Lon Cook and Rachel Ammons.

 Gene was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed planting potatoes. Chopping wood was another favorite pastime. Gene was a member of Dewey Christian Church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Thelma Cook; daughters, Lisa Cook and Teresa Smith; son, Steven Reavis; many grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews. 

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Sunset Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Mountain City Care Center and Caris Hospice for the excellent care they gave to Gene.
